John Marshall High School Visits East Coast

February 13, 2018

FEBRUARY 2018 – East Coast Metal Systems invited John Marshall High School students to tour the 60,000 square foot metal fabrication facility at the Highlands in Triadelphia, WV and learn more about the company. Altogether, 14 students from John Marshall’s engineering, drafting, IT, welding, business, and accounting Career and Technical Education (CTE) program attended.

During the tour, students were introduced to each aspect of the company to get a better understanding of what we do and to discuss each students’ current career choice. ECMS Draftsman Samuel Harris and Field Engineer Kyle Sowinski started off by giving the students a drafting and engineering presentation followed by a tour of the facility also joined by Director of Operations Steve Kerr. Following the tour, Human Resources Representative Julie Magers gave a presentation regarding the qualities of a successful job candidate and interview strategies.

John Marshall students who are within the CTE program have now been given the opportunity to shadow ECMS employees in their field of interest. Overall, students asked many questions and showed sincere interest in this opportunity. We are excited about this next step with John Marshall, and we hope to provide more opportunities to local high school and college students in the future.
